Hereditary Neuropathy with Liability to Pressure Palsy Presenting as an Acute Brachial Plexopathy: A Lover's Palsy
It is generally regarded that patients with hereditary neuropathy to pressure palsies, due to a deletion in the PMP22 gene, show recurrent pressure palsy and generalised peripheral neuropathy (pes cavus and hammer toes sometimes develop). Brachial plexopathy is rarely identified as a first presentation of hereditary neuropathy to pressure palsies. We describe a young man who developed a painles...

There have been few studies regarding physical training-induced peripheral nerve dysfunction in patients with hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies (HNPP), with the exception of soldiers that trained intensively. Here, we report a 15-year-old boy without family history of HNPP who developed bilateral painless brachial plexopathy following short-term barbell and plank training...
متن کاملBrachial plexopathy complicating Epstein-Barr virus infection in an adult
Acute Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with central and peripheral neurological complications such as meningitis, encephalitis, myelitis and radiculopathy in 0.5-7.5% of patients. The peripheral nervous system manifestations of acute EBV infection include mononeuropathy, mononeuritis multiplex, autonomic neuropathy, and polyradiculopathy. Brachial plexopathy in children and immu...

Direct neurologic dysfunction from Hodgkin's Lymphoma results from metastatic intrac...
متن کاملCompressive neuropathy of the brachial plexus and long thoracic nerve: a rare complication of heparin anticoagulation.
We present a case of a 69-year-old woman who developed brachial plexopathy and long thoracic nerve palsy secondary to compression from a hematoma while receiving heparin therapy for the treatment of a stroke. The patient was treated conservatively with discontinuation of heparin and had complete resolution of her compressive neuropathy. This is the first report of a patient with long thoracic n...
